About Swara Bhaskar 

Swara was born in Delhi to a Telugu Naval officer Chitrapu Uday Bhaskar and his Bihari wife Ira Bhaskar who is a professor of cinema studies in

Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. 

Her maternal grandmother was from Varanasi. 

Swara Bhaskar grew up in Delhi, where she did her schooling from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya and subsequently studied English literature at Delhi University's Miranda House where she was classmate with another actress Minisha Lamba. She did her masters in Sociology

from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

She came to prominence after playing the roles of Payal, in the 2011 rom-com film Tanu Weds Manu and Bindiya in the 2013 romantic drama Raanjhanaa. Both films garnered her critical acclaim and two nominations for Filmfare Award

for Best Supporting Actress.
